Arc Flash Incident in North Dakota

An arc flash incident at an Integrity Windows plant December 17, 2017, left an electrician seriously injured. The electrician suffered burns to his arms, neck, elbow and upper torso. He was taken to a Minneapolis medical center for treatment. At the time of the incident, he was installing and testing breakers at the plant.

The most common cause of Arc Flash and other electrical accidents is carelessness. No matter how well a person may be trained, distractions, weariness, pressure to restore power, or overconfidence can cause an electrical worker to bypass safety procedures, work unprotected, drop a tool or make contact between energized conductors.
